Reigning Over Premature Ejaculation
Practice makes perfect. Well, not entirely perfect, but over time it does achieve a level of consistency and permanence for the thing or behavior you are practicing, or wanting to modify.
And when you do those practices to overcome the thing that bothers about 40% of men, there’s the promise of a more vital and satisfying sex experience for both you and your woman.
Premature ejaculation or the inability to hold the orgasm until the partner is ready to orgasm is a frustrating dilemma that afflicts many men. There are no underlying diseases behind it. It is mostly rooted in the mind and emotional stress. Often the pressures to perform well in bed can also lead to it. Certainly some hang ups about sex as a race against time in early encounters can reinforce the habit. Hypersensitivity of the penis also has a lot to do with it. But that is more a trait of the young than a medical condition. Frequent, controlled masturbation diminishes much of this condition over time.
But one thing for sure, a man who suffers from it must recognize the problem and do something about it. There are no instant cures. You just have to work on some exercises repeatedly with patience and determined interest. Here are a few:
Stop, Withdraw and Start
The key is to be aware when you are about to reach orgasm. While it is true there’s nothing much you can do to stop orgasm once it starts, knowing when ejaculation is imminent allows you to frustrate and delay the orgasm. You just have to cease stimulating the penis, withdraw from the vagina and pinch the glans for a few seconds. It’s amazing how effective this method is once you achieve a level of competence. While masturbating, know and learn when you are about to ejaculate. Some technique used is to have your mind wander outside of what’s giving you pleasure for the moment. Think of something else, and then pinch the glans.
Kegel Exercises
Kegel exercises that strengthen the pelvic floor muscles can be critical to this. These are exercises to squeeze the pelvic muscles to hold off your urine and bowel movements. Squeezing them hard right before the onset of orgasm also holds off ejaculation. But you need practice. Squeezing the muscles 2-4 seconds repeatedly with increasing strength and duration over the few weeks can strengthen them.
Condoms and Desensitizing Creams
Some men have hypersensitive penis glands that can extend well into married life. The problem lies when the initial state of sexual arousal and orgasm are short-circuited so that you ejaculate with even minimal stimulation of the penis. Some men have been known to ejaculate just thinking of what turns them on.
To reign in over this condition, the use of condoms and desensitizing creams applied over the penis helps. Men with normal sensitivity in the penis often complain of diminished sensitivity when using a condom. That should be hint enough that it will similarly work on a overly sensitive penis. Desensitizing creams can be efficient but just bear in mind that when the penis goes in contact with the vagina, the woman’s genitals can also be desensitized. Just explain the situation with your partner. Hopefully she understands and will be sympathetic.
You can use each of these methods singly or in combination. The important thing to remember is that they require practice. Over time, you can learn to control your way to orgasm and thus, reign in over your premature ejaculation.
